About Macugnaga...

Situated at the foot of the immense and spectacular east wall of Mount Rosa, the second highest mountain in Europe, this resort offers a unique vacation combining sport and culture.

Enjoy a wonderful location in a wooded valley at the foot of the Monte Rosa. Macugnaga is a picturesque village with chalet style houses, clustered around an attractive market square.

The village consists of two parts: Pecetto the quieter end, nestled at the foot of the Belvedere/Burky ski area and Macugnaga centre, also known as Staffa. The two areas are within 15 minutes walking distance of each other.

In the WINTER Each village has its own ski area and there is a ski bus running between them. Macugnaga is a ski resort with good facilities for beginners and being relatively quiet and inexpensive is a great location for family ski holidays.

The history of the enchanted village of Macagnaga is that which has preserved intact the colours and the atmosphere of the days when the Walser people inhabited the area. They were the first families of Germanic origin to be the sole trustees of the secret beauty of this natural dell, at the foot of the the Monte Rosa.

The town is located at 1330m and we start to ski from 1370m up to 3000m. MUSEUM to visit
